About Us

Building the Leaders of Tomorrow

For over 13 years, The Dreamers Academy Camp has been transforming passionate young minds into ethical, articulate, and globally minded leaders.

Our Story

Dreamers Academy Camp began in December 2013, the year after iDebate Rwanda was founded. It started as the Annual Holiday Debate Camp, just 105 students and 20 volunteers, and grew out of iDebate's Kigali Debate League. That has always been iDebate's purpose: helping young people think clearly, solve problems creatively, and lead in their communities. A decade on, the camp is a 10-day intensive in debate, public speaking, leadership, and skills like coding, reaching over 900 students by its 10th edition in 2025.

Our Mission

To give young people the critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership skills to lead in the classroom, on the stage, and in their communities.

"We must choose the power of argument over the argument of power."

— Jean Michelle Habineza, Founder

Our Vision

To become Africa's premier debate and leadership camp, and to raise a generation of intellectually courageous leaders who choose argument over force.

We see a network of DAC alumni in every corner of the continent and beyond, leading with integrity in government, business, education, and civil society progress.

What You'll Learn at Camp

The soft skills that set you apart.

Public Speaking

The skill people notice first and remember longest. Learn to stand in front of a room, say what you mean, and hold any audience with your voice, your body, and your presence.

Storytelling & Persuasion

Anyone can share information. Moving people takes more. Use story, emotion, and the classic tools of persuasion to turn a point into something an audience actually feels.

Debate & Critical Thinking

The fastest way to learn to think under pressure. Take a side, back it with evidence, find the holes in the other case, and reason your way to a stronger position. The one skill no machine replaces.

Leadership & Collaboration

Nothing real gets built alone. Learn to listen first, bring people with you, and lead in a room full of strong voices.

Digital Skills

The world runs online now. Get hands-on with the tools that turn a good idea into something you can build, share, and put in front of people.

Financial Literacy

Money decisions shape every future. Learn to budget, save, and think clearly about money before the world forces the lesson on you.
